Grants for emerging female sports leaders
MORE than one hundred women working in sporting organisations have been announced as recipients of grants of up to $10,000 to access professional development and training opportunities through the Victorian government’s 2024-25 Change Our Game Professional Development Scholarships Program.
Since its establishment in 2018, the program has provided more than 600 opportunities for women who work in a wide range of sporting fields.
The initiative has six main streams – from supporting those in the early years of their careers or those returning from a career break such as parental leave, through to executives and new and aspiring board members.
The successful applicants will be able to obtain access to a range of professional development opportunities like governance training, access to leading career coaches, and courses tailored to give them the skills and confidence to excel in their careers.
Minister for Community Sport Ros Spence said the program is not only supporting women to advance their careers in sport, it’s helping to work towards gender equity in the sector.
“We are shaping the future of sport for generations to come – we’re getting more women into leadership roles which will deliver better experiences for girls now and into the future,” she said.
