Grants for veteran support and commemoration
COMMUNITY groups working to support, celebrate and remember war veterans will be eligible for a new round of State government grants.
Those providing welfare services, memorial preservation, veteran commemoration, or education about the experiences of servicemen and servicewomen could fit the criteria for one of three funding boosts.
The Anzac Day Proceeds Fund, Victoria Remembers Minor Grants Program or Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour category are all open for applications.
Member for Ripon, Louise Staley said these latest bundles will help Victorians maintain a valuable connection with their history and ensure they still honour those who served and sacrificed for their freedom.
“Now more than ever, we must be mindful not just of where we are going but where we have been,” she said.
“By commemorating the fallen and educating our young people about their sacrifices, we can honour our servicemen and servicewomen who have done so much for us.
“For those still living in our communities, the Anzac Day Proceeds Fund provides great support to those who need and deserve it most.”
Ex-service organisations, local government authorities, educational institutions and not-for-profits will receive funds.
The Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour and Victoria Remembers Minor Grants programs give up to $30,000.
Monday, 31 August is the closing date for applications to the Anzac Day Proceeds Fund and Victoria Remembers Minor Grants, while the Restoring Community War Memorials and Avenues of Honour category closes on Monday, 7 September.
