MEMBERS from Ballarat Action Climate Co-Op and Food Is Free are sending off the year with a movie night at Green Space.

Slated for Saturday, 26 November from 6pm to 9pm, Food Is Free secretary Katja Fiedler said the free event will be a great way to close out 2022.

“It’s a bit of a big finale for us to come together once more to spend time together outdoors amongst the veggie patches at Green Space to watch a movie,” she said.

“This is our final event in partnership with Ballarat Action Climate Co-Op so it’ll sing out the year in a relaxing, fun, but also educational and entertaining way.”

The featured film will be In My Blood It Runs, a documentary about an Alice Springs-based boy and his struggles in balancing his Aboriginal culture with the traditional Australian education system.

The event is the coalition of green groups’ final initiative together as part of the year-long ABC Heywire Grants Program, which was used in delivering this year’s Green Fest as well as workshops throughout 2022.

Ms Fiedler said the event is also a great opportunity for attendees to learn about upcoming initiatives from both groups.

“It’s a great thing for people who might want to hear about what we’re doing. We’re always looking for more community connections,” she said.

“It’s predominantly organised by young people for young people but everyone’s welcome to come along.

“The event is free. The food will be free. It’ll be a fun, casual night.”
