THE summer holidays are shaping up to be a busy time at Sovereign Hill with thirty-five days of magic running until the end of January.

The outdoor museum is expecting more than 50,000 visitors during the holiday period.

The Wizard Jacobs Magic Show is back at the Victoria Theatre for the first time in 10 years and is inspired by the true story of Joseph Jacobs, a magician who toured the goldfields in the 1850s.

More than 40 staff members, including technicians, performers, costume makers, historians, event producers, coachbuilders, and designers, have been preparing for the show to take to the stage.

“Summer is a fantastic time to reconnect with family and friends and experience the magic of Sovereign Hill,” said Sovereign Hill Museums Association CEO Sara Quon.

“Thirty-five Days of Magic is an opportunity to experience a classic magic show that has been 170 years in the making.”

The wonder doesn’t stop at the stage performances, with magic themed craft sessions and roving performers on site.

Picnic hampers by Peter Rowland to enjoy by the lake are also available for pre-order and will contain savory and sweet treats as well as drinks.

As part of Sovereign Hill’s summer holiday offerings the AURA sound and light show will also be on from 9.15pm as well as the outdoor museum’s year-round drawcards including gold panning, mine tours and coach rides.

The full event program can be found at the Sovereign Hill website.
