CARDIGAN Village community members can provide feedback on what they would like to see at the suburb’s reserve to the City of Ballarat.

Funding of $500,000 for the upgrade of Cardigan Village Reserve had been allocated in this year’s City of Ballarat budget as well as $50,000 from the State Government’s Tiny Towns Fund.

The community is invited to share what they would like to see at the reserve on the City of Ballarat’s MySay page, with a community day held last weekend to hear feedback in person.

“Cardigan Village is one of our outlying, smaller communities,” said City of Ballarat mayor Cr Des Hudson.

“It is important that as they continue to grow, there are plans for future upgrades from the recreation perspective.”

Cr Hudson said the City of Ballarat has been gathering feedback from the community for some time.

“There have been a number of different forums over time,” he said.

“Certainly, the community open day last weekend, previous consultation with the Cardigan Village seniors’ group and the kindergarten program.”

The project will focus on upgrading the existing play areas as well as providing additional infrastructure and landscaping.

“We have had some early information that has come back that has looked at different particular projects,” said Cr Hudson.

“Some things that we’ve heard are some upgrades around BMX equipment, play equipment and those hard-court areas.”

Community consultation is open until Sunday 25 August with the draft concept design expected to be created later this year.
