GRAMPIANS Health in partnership with the Local Learning Employment Network has launched a work experience program for high school students.

The program’s aim is to provide students with hands-on experience and insights into careers in the healthcare sector.

The initiative runs for one week each term to allow students to explore diverse pathways across four streams; allied health, corporate, support services and clinical.

Each stream can host up to two students per placement with combined streams at some campuses.

“We believe the comprehensive work experience program will offer a fantastic opportunity for students to explore different career paths in health and we are incredibly excited to offer this opportunity to students in our community,” Claire Woods, chief people officer at Grampians Health said.

“By providing hands-on experience across various streams, we hope to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals and give them a comprehensive understanding of the diverse roles within our sector.”

The program is designed for students in years 10 to 12 and participants explore a range of professions such as mental health, infection control, finance, support services, physiotherapy, social work, podiatry, radiology, and more.

The first round of the initiative began in February with Ballarat students; however, the program will be available across Grampians Health sites in Horsham, Stawell, Dimboola and Edenhope.
