THIS Mother’s Day, Eureka Mums are inviting people to donate either money or toiletry packs to ensure every mum feels special on their day.

With options to help out financially, book an appointment to drop in a toiletry bag, donate in lieu of a Mother’s Day present for your own mother, or organise a product drive with friends and family, Eureka Mums operations manager Trinsa Lewis said there’s many ways to get involved.

“We’ve always done the toiletry bag drive, but this year we’re also giving other options,” she said.

“We usually hold a Mother’s Day luncheon but this year we aren’t holding it because we can’t be certain we can run the event so it’s a way for those who would normally donate at the luncheon being able to support financially.

“The cash donations go towards buying stock and it helps us run the business, which will help mums all year round and all those packs we get, will go out to those families.”

While some Ballarat mums may be forced to purchase food items and bills instead of basic toiletries, Ms Lewis said this initiative is a way to make sure they are totally looked after.

“We’re looking for packs including shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste, combs, toothbrushes, deodorant and something special in there too on top of the basic stuff,” she said.

“They need to go through their social workers, through any of the organisations such as WRISC, Cafs, Orange Door and things like that, but the packs can make a huge difference in budgets and comfort.”
