COMMUNITY feedback is being sought by the City of Ballarat about a new framework for conserving and managing the region’s heritage.

The project will involve reviewing and upgrading heritage policies and creating new heritage design guidelines.

It forms part of the City of Ballarat’s wider strategic heritage work known as the Heritage Gaps Review Program, which aims to conserve places of significance that are missing from the planning scheme.

Updates to heritage policies and the new heritage design guidelines aim to create consistency with heritage assessment.

“Having a standard approach for the conservation and development of heritage places will ensure that we can apply best-practice to the conservation and development of Ballarat’s heritage places,” mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said.
