TWO crias, or baby alpacas, at Creswick Woollen Mills are ready to be named.

Now the tourist attraction is holding a competition for the public to name the cute critters, with vouchers and a Billabong picnic pack worth more than $600 also on offer as prizes.

Store manager Cassandra Ellis said it’s great that visitors are taking part in naming the Mill’s animals.

“It’s just great because the animals are so popular and adored so it allows visitors to have some part in the Creswick family,” she said.

“They really, really enjoy it and it’s a great experience for everyone.”

To enter the competition, visitors can scan a QR code in store and follow the prompts and entries close Sunday 18 February.

“We get all these wonderful names coming through and they get broken down and a selection of names are chosen,” said Ms Ellis.

“We then choose amongst those names and some of those successful people get a voucher.

“Then the person whose name is chosen gets a picnic pack.”

The two crias and their mothers recently arrived at the Mill and will be on site for visitors to interact with.

“The animals are such a great drawcard and people just love animals, especially babies,” said Ms Ellis.

“It also shows the animals which are the fibres we stock in the store, so it has an educational aspect as well.

“It’s such a special place because finding products with natural fibres is very rare so it holds onto a beautiful history.”
