BALLARAT Heritage Festival has arrived, and as part of the program, you’re invited to a garden party over the weekend.

The Ballarat East Heritage Garden Party will be held this Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May from 10am to 4pm at Barkly Square.

Barkly Square events coordinator, Bridget McMillan said it will be a celebration of all things heritage at the community hub, which was formerly the Ballarat East Town Hall and gardens.

“Join us for The Grand Chrysanthemum Show, flower workshops, an historic photo exhibition of the former Ballarat East Town Hall Gardens and of course our vintage garden party,” she said.

“There will be kids activities, performances, Chinese cultural displays, catering, displays, talks, demonstrations, and garden tours.”

Ms McMillan said their aim is for the event to be family friendly, as part of the nine-day local heritage fest, and entry is free for everyone to take a look around or enjoy some refreshment.

“On Sunday 19th from 2pm to 4pm, there will be the Fashion and Flowers Afternoon Tea,” she said.

“Dress in your finest vintage attire, enjoy a performance of popular songs from the late 19th century by Amie Brûlée, stroll through the gardens, admire the flower display and relax with a delicious garden-themed afternoon tea.

“Bring your family and friends for a delightful afternoon of nostalgia, floral delight, and the charms of yesteryear.”

The event is an initiative of the Ballarat East Town Hall Gardens Revitalisation Group, a sub-group of the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House, and the broader Barkly Square community.”
