Learn Locals a passport to opportunities in Ballarat
MINISTER FOR SKILLS AND TAFE, GAYLE TIERNEY
LEARNING new skills can open up a world of opportunities, no matter where you are in life. Even better, if those skills can be acquired in a welcoming environment that’s close to home.
That’s where Learn Local providers come in. The Allan Labor Government is funding community organisations to deliver training to adults in a wide range of courses including literacy, numeracy, digital and employability skills, right here in your community.
The best part is that Learn Local courses are short and low-cost. Trainers are knowledgeable and the course content can be tailored to learners’ needs.
If you’re thinking about a career in hospitality, early childcare or aged care, Learn Local can be your passport. They offer courses to develop reading and writing skills that are relevant to your chosen industry, or refresh your digital skills in Word or Excel so you can confidently rejoin the workforce.
Learn Locals can also be an important step on a path to further training, including through TAFE and university – and ultimately to employment.
They can also be a wonderful place to connect with your community, build confidence and start your learning journey.
There are more than 200 Learn Local providers across the state and they support around 30,000 Victorians each year.
The Labor Government is proud to be investing in Learn Locals to help them to continue to provide more education and employment opportunities to all Victorians.
The Learn Locals providers around Ballarat include:
• Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre
• Ballarat Group Training
• Cloverdale Community Centre
• Cultura
• genU
• Rosewall Community Centre
• Wendouree Neighbourhood Centre
• Whittington Neighbourhood House
I encourage anyone looking to gain new skills to explore the Learn Local courses that are available.
