Flower-powered fundraising

THE team at Linton Takeaway are taking the town back to the 1960s next month.

Embracing all the flower-power fun of the era, Cristine Gall, Dennis Dare and Amy McDonald are organising an evening of tunes, boogying, karaoke, prizes, food and drinks at the Linton and District Bowling Club on Saturday, 10 July.

It’s all to generate funds for a cause close to the community’s heart, while celebrating the easing of regional COVID-19 restrictions.

“Now things are back up and running, we wanted to put a night on to support a little boy here in Linton that has hearing aids and raise some money for the Deafness Foundation,” Ms Gall said.

“We’re trying to get people back out to enjoy having a good time. We also thought it would be a great opportunity to do some fundraising for our Linton and District Men’s shed.”

Those who attend are also asked to make a donation on entry to the Linton Primary School for their Cottage by the Sea camps.

Running from 6pm until 12am, live music acts are set to get the crowd moving, and will play a mixture of popular tunes before karaoke later in the night.

Costumes are encouraged, but they are optional.

“Amy and I like the idea of the flower-power, hippy theme. We’re looking forward to seeing the interesting outfits people will have on,” Ms Gall said.

“We would love to host 150 people, but if we can sell at least 100 tickets, that would be great.”

Door prizes are to be donated by local businesses. Tickets are $20 per person and can be picked up at the Linton Takeaway on Sussex Street. Entry is by pre-purchased ticket only.

Alcohol can be purchased at the club’s bar. There is no BYO.
