Lions give for those sleeping rough

UNITING Ballarat’s Street to Home assertive outreach program, which supports the region’s homeless people, has been boosted by a community group’s donation. Members of the Lions Club of Ballarat, including Richard English and Trevor Petrie (right), have donated $2000 worth of Anaconda vouchers to the agency last week. Street to Home workers Luke Moochoek and Ada Watson said the gift cards will be used to buy rough sleeping gear like tents and sleeping bags. “The demand on our service is huge, so this donation is amazing,” said Ms Watson. “We go around in the van to see rough sleepers, providing shelter, food, and water, and doing check-ins.” Photo: EDWINA WILLIAMS
