Live acts invited to build their sound
BALLARAT’S up and coming musicians are being encouraged to express interest in taking part in this year’s Be Hear Now program, with applications opening recently.
Organised through the City of Ballarat as a way of bolstering the region’s live music scene, Be Hear Now is currently in its fourth year and is aimed at giving emerging artists development opportunities and platforms to perform.
Artists through the program are selected as headliners in a festival offering of live gigs held at venues across Ballarat.
With an emphasis on providing individual support to the participating acts, program coordinators provide the artists with mentoring opportunities as well as assist with grant writing, venue booking, with networking opportunities also available.
Last year’s Be Hear Now saw artists Confetti Western, Pyrex, Sami, Iridescence, and Cassells featuring in the core program as well as 21 other acts.
The 2023 program also introduced a conference event which saw industry representatives and live music talent gather and network at the Goods Shed.
Expressions of interest can be submitted via the Creative Ballarat website until Friday 2 February.
