ACTS and have been confirmed for Fringe Benefits, the over ten-hour long, citywide prelude to Spilt Milk.

Set for Friday, 29 November the warmup for the massive music festival will include 50 performers, artists and musicians across 30 venues.

Fringe Benefits will take the form of a trail, with events set for places like Hydrant Café, 1816 Bakery and Pipers by the Lake to name just a few.

Ballarat council’s Creative City Coordinator, Tara Poole, said the events are in part a result of the municipality’s strategy to match artists with businesses.

“We’re celebrating our heritage heart, and the businesses who make the most of our city. We’ve merged them with a myriad of musical and artistic performers,” she said.

“Visitors and locals can plan their day and night using our Fringe Benefits website and track what’s on and what’s nearby, whether the event is free or ticketed, food options and style of music.

“We’re expecting people to flow easily through our city, and explore everything Ballarat and its creatives, musicians and artists have to offer.”

Some of the performers set to go on show during Fringe Benefits include hip-hop artist Candi Wade, Cordelia’s Potted Opera, Ash D Marshall, Floc and the Cheer Squad DJs.

To compliment the tunes there’ll be installation art exhibits by creatives like indigenous artist Josh Muir, whose piece Roots will be unveiled in Alfred Deakin Place. The open space, just off Camp Street will also be the site of a smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country at 5.30pm.
