Mall mural about crossing paths

A NEW mural is bringing some colour to Stockland Wendouree while serving as a celebration of the local community.

The work, titled Wonderous Path, was created by artist Margie Balazic, who said she was influenced by the interweaving of life and community.

“Growing up in Ballarat, and the many paths of discovery, inspired me. It’s about our environment, our community, curiosity, and an adventurous imagination in life,” she said.

“We look at life as being small but in fact it’s much larger than we can ever imagine, especially when our mind looks further.

“I hope people explore life in a different way and with the greatest of interest. I want people to delight other’s, one step at a time.”

Located near the centre management, the work is 20 meters long, nearly two meters high and took Balazic two weeks to paint.

Depicting colourful plant life and vegetation, Balazic said Wonderous Path’s key themes include the community’s impact on the environment.

“Our environment has lots to explore but it’s our community’s compassion that makes Ballarat enchanting,” she said.

Balazic said she has fond memories of visiting Stockland Wendouree as a child, and feels “very proud and honoured” to add some vibrancy to the space.

“I am grateful that my life continues to take twists and turns. I don’t know where it will lead but I do have great comfort knowing I will always discover something new with others,” she said.

“I hope the mural entices the community’s curiosity, creates conversation, and empowers the greatest of imagination among us.”
