DISABILITY support service eQuality Support will be the official Disability and Inclusion Partner of The Ballarat Marathon until 2027.
Marathon event director Adam McNicol said having the organisation as a key partner is about making sure the event is truly accessible to everyone, whether they want to walk, roll or run.
“That’s a key aim for us as we set about building the most inclusive running festival in Australia,” he said.
eQuality Support director Mark vanHamond said the partnership reflects a forward-thinking approach and considers everyone.
“It highlights the importance of embracing diversity, and removing barriers to participation,” he said.
Ballarat client Tamika Burzacott, who is assisted by eQuality Support carers, will be walking the marathon’s five-kilometre event for the second year.
She said she is looking forward to leading the way, encouraging others, and meeting new people.
Nearly 30 eQuality Support staff and community members from Ballarat, Geelong and Torquay will be taking part together in matching purple T-shirts.
The Ballarat Marathon gets underway next weekend, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 April.
