Market day a milestone in Lucas
ELEANOR Drive will transform into a one-stop festive shopping and party precinct for this Friday’s Lucas Christmas Market.
Sixty-three stallholders, from clothing makers to bakers of dog treats, will be based between the Lucas Community Hub and Siena Catholic Primary School from 4pm to 8pm tomorrow, Friday, 2 December.
Integra community engagement coordinator Victoria Rushton said the suburb’s 10th anniversary celebration will run alongside the market.
“We have over 130 incredible local community groups and businesses involved to help bring the 10 years of Lucas event together,” she said.
“With the ground still not quite ready for an event of this size on Lucas Central Park, we have moved out onto the street, are so thrilled to go ahead, and we welcome everyone to come along.
“We initially had different zones mapped out all around Central Park, but now it will be one long street party, just as fun, with movies on the big screen, market stalls, live music, craft activities, plant giveaways, food trucks and workshops.”
Lucas and Siena primary school choirs will sing carols, and Motor City Sounds will get crowds grooving.
There’ll be an obstacle course, mini games, an environment zone, a trampoline and jumping castle to bounce on, ponies to pat, Keralites’ Foundation dance performances, and a visit from Mr and Mrs Claus.
For big kids, the beer and spirits of Red Duck and Kilderkin will be sold in a licensed zone, while Tim Bone’s toasties will be on sale, and Alfredton Rotary Club will cook up a sausage sizzle.
