VISITORS to Sovereign Hill these school holidays will have the opportunity to meet and greet characters from the gold rush era.
Costumed performers will bring colour, drama and mystery to the outdoor museum, inspired by real-life, impactful people.
Visitors can interact with scandalous dancer Lola Montez, a redcoat corporal, a trooper, and an undertaker inspired the real Ash & Dawson Funeral Directors.
Polly O’Shea – who pays tribute to the resilient women of the goldfields – a doctor, a nurse, and grocers from Clark Brothers will also be ready to greet guests.
“Sovereign Hill is more than just a museum – it’s a living, breathing story brought to life by our costumed characters, pulling visitors straight into the heart of the gold rush,” Sovereign Hill Museums Association CEO Sara Quon said.
“This autumn, we’re inviting visitors to be a part of the stories we tell at Sovereign Hill, experiencing the gold rush era through the eyes of those who lived it.
“They can step into history themselves with hands-on activities like gold panning, coach rides, and then meet the characters who once walked these streets, each embodying the spirit and diversity of the goldfields.”
Also on offer at Sovereign Hill during the school holidays will be 1850s-style portraits.
The program runs until Monday 21 April. For tickets, visit the Sovereign Hill website.
