Milestone return for Clunes Show
BELATED birthday celebrations will be on the agenda for the upcoming Clunes Show when it returns next weekend.
The agricultural show’s 160th anniversary event is slated for Saturday, 19 November at the Clunes Showgrounds after being cancelled two years in a row.
Jenny Redpath, Clunes and District Agricultural Society president, said there’ll be plenty of ways to join in the fun.
“It’s absolutely fantastic to be back and we’re very keen to get going,” she said.
“This year we’re going to be highlighting the Midlands Axemen, and we have our strongman competition during the day.
“There’s also a virtual header simulator which is an interactive grain crop, so that’ll be great fun for the kids.
“Then there’s our homecrafts pavilion which just shows off what people can do, from cakes to floral arrangements, even some homebrew.
“Another big one for us is the food and wine pavilion where we like to highlight local wineries and producers.”
This year’s Show will also see the 25th anniversary of the Bute Ute Competition, which Ms Redpath said usually receives more than 60 entrants.
A history book on will launch, and footage will be projected, showcasing past and present Show action and people.
Ms Redpath said she’s excited to mark the Show’s milestone birthday.
“We’re eager to get back and ring in the occasion. It’ll be great to really show where we’ve come from and how far we’ve gone since,” she said.
“Everyone’s very keen to come back especially after being stuck at home for the last two years.
“I know everyone’s been making stuff as well so I think our craft comps are going to be inundated this year.”
Tickets are $15 while children under 16 enter free.
