SHE Oaks’ Jo Solomon will continue to teach a weekly hatha yoga class from the Maude tennis clubrooms, albeit in a virtual way due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Every Thursday night at 6.30pm for the foreseeable future, Ms Solomon will broadcast live over Zoom, inviting beginners or those returning to hatha yoga practice, to log on and take part in a guided session in their own home.

“It’s for people that want to learn a solid foundation in hatha yoga and how to learn foundation poses so they can practice in class or at home confidently,” she said.

“They’ll understand how to do each pose, how to stay in them carefully, how to move between poses carefully and how to protect their bodies so they don’t get injuries.

“It’s any age, any body, any gender. All poses can be modified up or down, to make them stronger or less strong for a person’s body, depending where they’re at.”

Ms Solomon said there are many benefits to this type of yoga, with movement that frees up the body.

“It brings flexibility, strength and balance to the body, but it’s deeper than that. I incorporate mindfulness and meditation, ways to be more conscious and present, and breathwork,” she said.

“What you learn on the mat informs your life off the mat. It’s mind and body awareness.”

Send a text to 0438 828 042 if you’re interested in trying a class. 10-class passes are available for $150, or one casual class is $20.

Those unable to make the Thursday evening session live can let Ms Solomon know to access the recording at a later time. They may watch it as many times during the week as they like.

If there is enough interest, a 10am Tuesday session may become available.
