Monetary backing for medical researchers
TWO PhD scholars from Grampians Health have received scholarships to help them with their research.
Cara Hill and Michael Peng were the recipients of the scholarships from the Western Alliance’s Higher Degree by Research program which aims to encourage research excellence and innovation in healthcare.
The organisation provides people conducting research in areas of importance to the healthcare sector with financial assistance and resources.
Ms Hill, studying at Deakin University, is a speech pathologist and research assistant whose research is centred around helping those living with dysphagia, or swallowing difficulties, in care communities.
Her study aims to make mealtimes easier for people in rural and regional Victorian care communities.
Ms Peng, studying at Federation University, is a senior clinician physiotherapist whose research will focus on how ongoing learning affects allied workers engagement and career fulfillment.
“Grampians Health is committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our staff and is dedicated to advancing healthcare practices in rural and regional areas,” said Matthew Hadfield, chief medical officer at Grampians Health.
“We are proud to support Cara Hill and Michael Pang on their academic journeys and look forward to the valuable contributions they will make to their respective fields of study.”
