Motel named state’s best
BALLARAT’S Sovereign Park Motor Inn has been named the best motel in the state at the Victorian Accommodation Awards for Excellence.
The announcement was made last Thursday at an awards ceremony in Melbourne.
The other category finalists included The Black Bull in Traralgon, Sale’s The Matador, Port Albert Motel, and Quality Hotel Parklake Shepparton.
Sovereign Park Motor Inn owner Tim Canny said the accommodation provider focuses on the customer service experience.
“We have great attention to detail when it comes to customer service and real personal customer service,” he said.
“We know our guests well and really go the extra mile.
“We’ve got a really well-established, regular client base.”
The motel is nearly 48 years old, and Mr Canny said their staff are integral to the business’s success.
“We’ve been doing business for a long, long time now,” he said.
“We have a great team that has a great culture and takes a lot of pride in looking after our guests to a high standard.”
Mr Canny said he hopes the award win will have wider benefits for the Ballarat community.
“It might bring a bit of attention to Ballarat and hopefully draw some more visitors our way,” he said.
“We certainly wouldn’t be the place we are without the community and all the attractions and events that come to Ballarat that support our business.”
The venue will now progress to the national awards to be held in November.
