FAMOUS worldwide for her Australian animal pots and viral TikTok videos, local ceramic artist Shelby Sherritt is adding a string to her business bow.

Having built a following of 1.9 million people on Instagram and TikTok over the last couple of years as Shelby Sherritt Art, she’s heard audience feedback and is launching a new brand called Mouldy Bisquits.

“My Mystery Moulds have been an online success. The first video reached an unfathomable three million views, and some have reached as much as 10 million,” she said.

“A lot of people were recognising the pottery pieces I was pouring, firing, and revealing each week, and were feeling nostalgic, saying they used to paint them, or their family and friends did.

“People commented asking if I could release them as a paint-your-own DIY pottery kit, so I listened, and am delivering on what people want me to provide.”

Pottery pieces which are popular amongst Sherritt’s online audience have been selected for the kits.

Developing Mouldy Bisquits over the last eight months, and taking the small business name from her bisque pottery practice, Sherritt began selling her craft boxes at 6pm on Friday.

Sherritt’s kits include a piece of pottery – one of the most popular Mystery Moulds – paints, brushes, a palette, gloss sealant, tips and tricks. Ten to 15 of her followers’ favourite pieces are available in the initial line.

“Once I see what pieces sell really well, that will decide what I then expand to. There are so many moulds I have not yet uncovered that might be really good for these kits in the future,” she said.

“This is not the direction I thought I would be going with my art at this time, reviving a lot of vintage pieces, but they’ve been so popular, so why wouldn’t I do this?”

Sherritt will open her own purpose-built studio in the near future where she plans to lead social ceramic workshops. Visit instagram.com/mouldy.bisquits to check out her new craft kit venture.
