Fun water resources run freely this week
AN online learning festival is running as part of Central Highlands Water’s National Water Week celebrations from 19 to 25 October.
Encouraging children to understand the value of water, the state’s water corporations have collaborated to produce educational videos, activities and events.
CHW managing director Paul O’Donohue said the events and the resources available make it an ideal time for kids at school, or the broader community, to gain a stronger grasp of the way water works, and the important role it plays.
“We will be offering the online learning festival to students, teachers and community members across our region,” he said.
“This year’s theme is Reimagining our Water Future. In a year that has seen a huge reimagining of work and school, it is timely to think about how we see water in the future.”
An educational performance, Tapstar Saves Water, will be presented by the Eaton Gorge Theatre Company, while story time clips, science experiments and mindfulness resources will also be available.
CHW spokesperson said those engaging with the program will also discover ways to save water, why that’s an important and timely thing to be doing, and how proactivity today can mean they have an opportunity to play a role in “reimagining our water future.”
“Water is a huge part of our daily lives. Learn about it from books, a theatre show, science experiments and artwork.”
The winners of the annual National Water Week poster competition have been announced online, instead of face-to-face.
