New CEO for Ballarat Turf Club

BALLARAT Turf Club’s next chief executive officer will be racing administrator Peter Downs.

Mr Downs has been announced to replace the outgoing CEO, long-time BTC lead Belinda Glass, beginning early-September.

He has held a similar position previously at Warrnambool Race Club, and is the Australian Turf Club, Sydney’s former general manager racing services, where he managed operations, facilities and events, and created and delivered a strategic racing plan.

“We are delighted to secure someone with Peter’s experience for this important role,” said Ballarat Turf Club chair Bill Gribble.

“He has a wealth of knowledge and understanding of racing and its importance to the local communities.

“As we all know the racing industry at Ballarat is a vibrant and important part of the wider Ballarat community.

“The Club was thrilled to receive applications from many people and were very impressed with the calibre of the candidates interviewed.”

Mr Downs has also worked for the Moonee Valley Racing Club, South Australian Harness Racing Club, and Tabcorp.
