New chair for Ballarat Foundation as long–time directors step back
THE Ballarat Foundation has a new chair in organisational psychologist Ellen Jackson, who has board experience and a background in governance, leadership and community engagement.
Ms Jackson was appointed at the foundation’s annual general meeting this month, where retiring board members of nine years Wayne Weaire, Ian Corcoran and Emily Sweet were acknlowledged for their service.
“It is an honour to be stepping into the role of chair at such a pivotal time for the Ballarat Foundation,” Ms Jackson said.
“I am inspired by the dedication of those who have come before me and excited to work alongside a talented team committed to creating a stronger, more connected community.”
Mr Weaire, the outgoing chair of eight years, said Ms Jackson’s passion and professional expertise make her the right choice to take on the leading role as he steps back.

“It has been a true privilege to serve alongside such passionate and community-minded individuals,” he said.
“The work of the Ballarat Foundation touches so many lives and I leave knowing it is in strong and capable hands.
“I look forward to continuing my support in a new capacity and watching the foundation flourish under new leadership.”
Mr Weaire, Mr Corcoran and Ms Sweet have been awarded Ballarat Foundation life association for their commitment to the organisation. Mr Corcoran has served as deputy chair, and Ms Sweet has been allocations committee chair.
“The commitment and wisdom that Wayne, Ian, and Emily have brought to the foundation over the years cannot be overstated,” foundation CEO Andrew Eales said.
“Their contributions have left a lasting legacy that will continue to guide our work well into the future.
“We are proud to recognise their impact through life association status.”
The Ballarat Foundation’s aim is to remove disadvantage across the city and empower all residents to prosper.
