New classrooms opened at St Aloysius
MEMBER for Ballarat Catherine King has opened a new junior learning hub at St Aloysius Primary School.
Ms King visited the school last Friday to see the space which includes a fit for purpose year one and two building with three general learning spaces and an open space.
The $2 million project received $500,000 in funding from the Federal Government and also included upgrades to the existing foundation and years three and four classrooms, and the school staffroom and lobby.
“New facilities like this one-two learning space that we have here at St Aloysius is a really important thing for young people,” said Ms King.
“Having that opportunity for play based learning but also allowing teachers to collaborate together across classrooms really provides a great learning opportunity for young people.
“We know these primary years are so important, those foundation skills that young people learn that help them with their lifeline learning.”
St Aloysius Primary School has been educating students in Redan for nearly 150 years.
Principal Narelle Cox said it is important to create a calm and positive learning environment for students.
“The new space being beside our kitchen garden encourages friendships and interaction and means there are often students nibbling on the parsley and mint growing in the garden,” she said. “Our heartfelt thanks to the many people who made this project a reality.
“For our school, this isn’t just a building; it’s a space where friendships will be built, and dreams will take flight.”
