GRAMPIANS Health is set to partner with a series of hospitals and research institutions as part of the State Government’s Victorian Collaborative Centre for Mental Health and Wellbeing.

A statement from Grampians Health said the centre will be the first of its kind in Australia and will seek to bring together people with lived experiences as well as researchers and health professionals to improve the mental health system.

“This partnership is important to Grampians Health and we are honoured to be named one of the supporting networks,” said Craig Wilding, GH’s CEO of community and aged care.

“Our commitment to working together to improve mental health and wellbeing for our local communities and all Victorians is central to our service design and delivery.”

The Royal Melbourne Hospital and the University of Melbourne will lead the effort, supported by 20 institutions and community services with a focus on Aboriginal health and wellbeing.

“Grampians Health has placed great emphasis on the importance of collaborative partnerships with the community, carers, families, universities, health care professionals, researchers, and our workforce,” said director of GH’s health and wellbeing service Mark Thornett.

“We understand that listening, learning, and sharing is key to driving change and improving the future of mental health and wellbeing for all.”
