A LOCALLY run and member owned community social enterprise is set to be one site bigger following the announcement a new medical centre will open in one of the city’s growing suburbs.

The new clinic from healthcare provider UFS Dispensaries is on the way for Lucas with the aim of opening in early 2025.

The organisation’s chief executive officer Matt Vagg said the additional site will be a boost for health services in the region.

“This project is a significant one for UFS and is a reflection of our purpose, which is to empower more people to live longer, healthier lives,” he said.

“We are looking forward to providing quality healthcare services for the significant population west of the centre of town.”

Once constructed, the centre will be the fourth UFS medical centre in Ballarat, following sites on Doveton Street North and Windermere Street in Ballarat Central.

The most recent UFS centre to be established has been at Sebastopol’s Albert Street following its relocation from Bridge Mall earlier this year.

The relocated site is home to Ballarat’s first drive-through pharmacy, as well as treatment and nurses’ rooms, and a dozen consulting suites.

Staff at UFS will be working with real estate group Integra in developing the Lucas facility.

Along with general practitioners, the site is set to house a range of allied health services as well as medical specialists.

Healthcare professionals interested in working at the new site once its completed are invited to contact UFS.
