SOVEREIGN Hill have expanded the presentations of the living museum’s Aura sound and light show to include every Friday and Saturday night.

Attendees will now be able to see the show from Monday to Saturday as well as every day during the school holidays.

“Leading into summer where the weather is warmer in the evenings, Aura is a great evening option and a great experience for friends and relatives who come to Ballarat,” said Sovereign Hill CEO Sara Quon.

“Having times that align with people’s availability over weekends is really important.”

The 90-minute show covers at the creation, discovery and impact of gold in the region.

“Aura is an amazing local evening that starts when darkness falls,” said Ms Quon.

“It tells the story of gold from the creation of gold to its discovery and impact on Ballarat and the world.

“It’s a separate experience from the Sovereign Hill outdoor experience that people may be familiar with and it’s a really lovely thing to do during summer when the weather is warm.”

Ms Quon said she hopes the extended offering will encourage tourists to stay in Ballarat for longer.

“One of the key drivers when we redeveloped Blood on the Southern Cross and launched Aura was to drive overnight stays in Ballarat,” she said.

“Originally people who may have just been coming for a day visit may be motivated to stay longer.

“For visitors who might have already been to Sovereign Hill it’s a new experience for them to encourage them to come back and visit Ballarat again.”
