Nominate a Golden Plains Shire community champion
NOMINATIONS are now open for this year’s Golden Plains Shire Community Awards.
The awards formally acknowledge extraordinary individuals and community groups who make an outstanding contribution to the Shire.
They will be presented to three individuals: Citizen of the Year, Senior Citizen of the Year, and Young Citizen of the Year.
The fourth award, the Community Impact Award, recognises the valuable contribution of a community event, project, group or team.
Nominee achievements are welcome in fields including community service, arts and culture, environment, business, economic development and sport.
Golden Plains chief executive officer Eric Braslis encouraged Shire residents to nominate their local leaders, neighbours and colleagues to recognise the valuable contribution they make to life in the municipality.
“This year has been unique and council wants to recognise local people who have supported their neighbours and communities during this difficult time,” he said.
“The challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic have highlighted the valuable contributions of those who, every day, help to make Golden Plains Shire a wonderful place to call home.
“In 2020, there are have been remarkable stories of service to the community and Council asks all residents to thank and honour these individuals and groups with a nomination for the Golden Plains Shire Council Community Awards.”
