IT has been one year since Travellers Aid arrived at Ballarat Station, supporting passengers on their journey.

The organisation works to assist people with mobility challenges at various stations and major events like the Australian Open and Australian Grand Prix.

Due to the current accessibility challenges at Ballarat Station, Travellers Aid began offering services last year.

Help is available at Ballarat Station on weekdays from 7.30am until 3.30pm and services include helping people move between platforms, bus bays, the taxi rank and the carpark.

“The Travellers Aid team started supporting passengers of all abilities to move around Ballarat Station last year and the response from the community has been really positive,” said a V/Line spokesperson.

“V/Line has a long-standing partnership with Travellers Aid, with staff and volunteers assisting our passengers with their travel needs at Southern Cross and Seymour stations for many years and we’re thrilled to now be offering this support at Ballarat Station.”

The service supports both residents and tourists and is run by paid staff and volunteers.

Travellers Aid Australia CEO Elias Lebbos called on the community to volunteer their time.

“We’re extremely proud of the work our team at Travellers Aid

do across Victoria and look

forward to providing continuous support to the Ballarat community,” he said.

“As more and more people choose public transport as a travel option, we’re calling for volunteers to join our team.

“If you’d like to help make a positive difference in your community, we’d love to hear from you.”
