CREATIVE space provider Ballarat Evolve’s first-ever open night is set to take place next week.

On Tuesday, 8 November, everyone is invited to the free event at The Unicorn Hotel, which aims to highlight the organisation, what they do, and how people can utilise their service.

Ballarat Evolve offers shopfront studios for people wanting to develop their creative practice or business, and board member Mick Trembath said the evening will be informal yet informative.

“What we’ve done in the past is talk to artists individually, so we thought rather than that, we’d have a big information night,” he said.

“Everybody can come along, ask questions, get all the information they need and then be able to apply for a space.

“It’s also a chance for them to meet the team… past and current artists and get a really good feel for everything in our world.”

The event will include an explanation of the application process required to secure a space through Ballarat Evolve.

Mr Trembath said the organisation caters for a variety of individual needs.

“We look for people currently working as high-end amateurs that want to transfer into a more professional arts or business practice,” he said.

“What we do is offset rentals so people can have more time to dedicate to their artistic practice or setting up their business and really taking those steps forward.

“These regular nights will… give everybody a bit of time to think about what they’d like their practice to be. When we get new spaces, we can incorporate people into it.”

The open night will start at 7pm.
