Optus phone network upgraded
TELECOMMUNICATIONS company Optus has sped up the rollout of its fifth generation mobile network in the Ballarat region.
Recent upgrades to the network, including the activation of 5G on two existing sites, bring the total number of 5G-enabled sites in the region to 24.
Twenty-three of these sites now offer Optus 5G-plus, providing broader coverage and greater capacity compared to standard Optus 5G.
This aims to improve the mobile experience for eligible customers in the region.
Optus local general manager Jayson Grool said businesses and customers in the region would soon notice the positive impacts of Optus 5G connectivity as the rollout continues over the coming months.
“The improved connectivity for Ballarat and surrounding areas will bring significant benefits, including faster data speeds and wider 5G mobile coverage as more 5G sites are turned on, helping the community to stay better connected,” he said.
“Beyond increased 5G connectivity, we’re proud to support the local community through a number of local community initiatives, including being the naming rights partner of Springfest, and providing event support at the Ballarat Christmas Carols every year.
“Optus was recognised by Opensignal as the provider with the fastest average 5G mobile network download speed for the seventh consecutive time and the most consistent network quality.
“We are proud to continue investing in our award-winning network and strengthening connectivity for communities like Ballarat.”
