MEMBERS of the Order of St John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller’s Ballarat Commandery have donated one-thousand-dollars to provide food and medical provisions to struggling families in Afghanistan.

The cash was given to members of the Rural Australians for Refugees’ Ballarat branch and the Ballarat Afghan Action Group.

The donation was made in honour of Order of St John member Chevalier, Reverend Graham Reynolds, a local Anglican priest who passed away earlier this year.

Members of the Ballarat community have offered support to the Hazara people of Afghanistan, particularly for families without a male adult, with supplies delivered via on-the-ground volunteers.

The Order of St John of Jerusalem Hospitaller is part of an international Order of Chivalry and provides support to people in need.
