Park improvements continue
EIGHT new neighbourhood parks are set to receive upgrades as part of the City of Ballarat’s rolling program.
There are 200 of these reserves in Ballarat which are designed for residents who live within 500 metres of them.
Each year City of Ballarat staff select up to 10 parks which need an upgrade.
Parks set for improvement this year include Kowree Court Park in Sebastopol, Drummond Street Reserve in Lake Wendouree, Yarana Drive Park in Mount Helen and Victoria Street Reserve in Sebastopol.
Gregory Street Reserve in Soldiers Hill, Clover Street Reserve in Wendouree, Marigold Street Reserve in Wendouree and Rizal Park in Invermay will also see improvements.
Factors considered when deciding which parks will receive upgrades are the age and condition of equipment, park conditions and the demographics of the suburb.
“Having input from our community members, those who use these parks on a daily basis, is a great way to shape the parks and make them fit for purpose,” said Cr Ben Taylor.
“It’s great to know that a park that may be used for a lot of walking, could get a dedicated path throughout it, or a park that is used a lot by young families may have improved play equipment and seating for parents added.”
The community can provide feedback, and see plans and construction updates, on the City of Ballarat’s MySay page.
