Partners sought for SpringFest

TWO local organisations are being sought to become community partners of SpringFest.

Community groups need to be willing to be involved in regular meetings, provide volunteers, promote the event online, and help with the logistics of setting up the market day.

In return, partners receive a share of funds raised, the opportunity to develop new skills and networking opportunities within Ballarat.

“Community Partners are proactive in the planning and running of SpringFest Ballarat, which provides positive opportunities for them to get involved in a large-scale community project,”

said SpringFest co-director Robert Glass.

The event is a project of the Rotary Club of Ballarat which aims to serve and support the community with groups guaranteed a minimum of $2500 per year for three years.

Co-director Davis Torrington said the partners help the Rotary Club share the workload of the event.

“Springfest is a big project so having community partners involved allows us to use their people to create one big project as its very labour intensive so it helps to spread the load,” he said.

“We will probably have around 40 people on per three-hour shift made up of rotary members and community partner members.

“The better the event goes the more money the community partners receive.”

This call out comes after SpringFest had to cancel the event last November for the third year in a row following heavy rainfall in the lead up to the Market Sunday.

This year’s event will be at a new location yet to be announced which Mr Torrington said will help avoid this problem and make the event more accessible.
