ACCOMODATION unlike any other is set to open this April with visitors to Kryal Castle soon able to stay onsite at a new caravan park.

Run under the Big 4 brand, the development is set to include 56 sites for caravans and campers with 20 powered on concrete slabs, 22 powered on grass and two unpowered.

There will also be 16 cabins, a swimming pool, and playgrounds.

Kryal Castle CEO Bart Hamilton said he hopes the opening can alleviate some of the pressure on short term accommodation in the region.

“We’ve been selling out our hotel rooms on site pretty consistently for the last two years, so there is definitely demand,” he said.

“It’s pretty obvious how quickly things sell out when there’s a major event, so it was kind of a no brainer.

“Just being able to add another 70 beds will not only help Kryal Castle, but also all of Ballarat for other events like Spilt Milk and the cycling.

“We’ll be the closest Big 4 to Melbourne and creating a Tudor vibe in the park, so it fits on theme and is a great use of space.”

Mr Hamilton said venue management are also hoping to put in a mountain bike track and a few other facilities to make the caravan park an important extension to the castle.

“It turns a one-day fun experience into two days of fun for everyone,” he said. “It’s going to unlock a new era for Kryal Castle.”
