THE biannual St Paul’s Anglican Church plant and book sale will be back next Saturday and raising funds for the church community.

The sale, which occurs in May and November each year, usually raises between $2000 and $4000.

Event organiser Noella Young has always had a passion for gardening and begins propagating plants for the sale more than six months in advance.

“We started at St Paul’s probably about 10 years ago having a small sale and it’s grown and grown,” she said.

“We have a lot of parishioners who all have their specialties, so they produce those and then there’s a few of us who go into it in a bigger way.”

Funds raised on the day go towards projects related to the church.

“The money goes to the church sometimes for maintenance, it just depends on what the need is at the time,” said Ms Young.

“It’s good to keep these buildings going.”

The sale also provides an opportunity for the community to come together and form new connections.

“This plant sale really brings people together every six months and they come from far and wide,” said Ms Young.

“When they get there it’s a real social event, so it’s been really good.”

Ms Young urged anyone in the community to come along, even if they aren’t involved in the church.

“With more and more people who aren’t connected to the church, people come to the sale and they say, ‘I grow this particular thing and I can do that for you’,” she said.

“It’s just fun and people relax.”

The plant sale will take place on Saturday 4 November from 8am until 2pm.
