A high-speed police pursuit through Ballarat suburbs has ended safely after officers rammed a stolen car in Wendouree.
Police first spotted the white Toyota Prado in Canadian around 9.15am on Monday, before it was tracked driving dangerously across Redan, Ballarat and Wendouree with the support of the Air Wing.
The vehicle was allegedly seen reaching speeds over 90km/h in 60 zones, driving against traffic, mounting footpaths and median strips, and forcing pedestrians to dodge out of the way.
Stop sticks were deployed in Redan, damaging the tyres, but the car continued for at least 40 minutes on its rims.
Police said the vehicle continued to pose a serious risk to the public until it was stopped on Gillies Street, near Howitt Street, about 12.05pm when officers rammed it to bring the situation to an end.
A 35-year-old Sebastopol man was arrested at the scene and taken into custody.
No injuries were reported and investigations are ongoing.
Police said the Toyota had been stolen from a Camberwell address on 30 September and was displaying false number plates.
