BALLARAT families can now access a free digital tool from the State Electricity Commission to help them switch to energy efficient electrical appliances.

The pilot program includes a free digital platform where users complete a short survey about their home and energy usage and then a plan is created to help reduce energy bills.

It includes suggestions for suitable appliances, indicative costs, return on investment, government rebates, and emissions reductions.

The survey is available for all Victorians, however, Ballarat residents who would like to upgrade their appliances connect with an installer who has been vetted by the commission.

“This SEC pilot program will help Ballarat households to simplify and tailor affordable plans to electrify their homes specific to their circumstances with a trusted vetted professional,” said Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison.

The pilot will run until the end of the year and then the commission will analyse the results.

The average Victorian household can save $1400 a year by switching to all-electric or $2700 a year by adding solar.

“Ballarat is the first regional community to benefit from our one-stop-shop – helping families save money on their energy bills and switch their homes to electricity,” said Member for Eureka, Michaela Settle.
