Pub prepares car and market fare
Following its debut late last year, management at The Stag Hotel will host the venue’s second joint car show and market on Sunday.
The venue’s publican, and event organiser Ashlee Brook said the offering is about bringing an enjoyable day out to the region.
“All the cars can just rock up out at the front on the day and we’ll
have the market stalls in the beer garden,” she said.
“In 2023, the Lions Club [of Mount Bolton and District] mentioned they were doing a car boot sale, and I’ve always wanted to do a car show for ages, so I said, let’s do both.”
Ms Brook said the event’s debut was unprecedented.
“We had cars going down from the corner of the property right to the garage which is about five houses from the pub,” she said.
“Before it even started, I was being asked when we were throwing the next one.”
Ms Brook estimated about a dozen stallholders featured in the previous event, with this weekend’s one to showcase everything from car parts, to 3D-printed works, to vintage items.
“Previous owners have done things like this before but in the past few years, we haven’t,” Ms Brook said.
“It’s important to have something like this because it brings together two different groups, car people and market people to mingle and explore both options.”
Lions Club of Mount Bolton and District members will be onsite fundraising with a sausage sizzle, while proceeds from the market stall fees will also go towards the group.
Ms Brook plans to host the event once per season, except winter, this year.
The event will run from 12pm onwards with DJ, Julia Starr, providing live music until 3pm. Contact the hotel on 5343 2224 to book a stall for $10.
