Public to question candidates at pre-election forum
A PRE-ELECTION forum at the Ballarat Central Uniting Church will give Ballarat the opportunity to share their concerns with local Federal candidates.
On Monday, 29 April at 6pm, Federal Member for Ballarat, Catherine King, Liberal candidate, Tim Vo, Greens candidate, Karen McAloon and Independent, Nick Shady will all be asked questions by the public and given 60 seconds to respond.
Each candidate will also be given three minutes to speak about how the theme ‘Compassion and a Just Society,’ relates to their policies.
Organiser, Jan Souter said the forum will help locals ensure their issues are addressed, and let the candidates share their priorities.
“This election has been described as a generational election, with 6.5 million voters over 55 years of age and some 10 million under 55 with different concerns,” she said. “So, we especially, want to see younger voters participating in the forum.
“The Ballarat Central Uniting Church maintains a long tradition of hosting these forums.”
Peter Cozyn, candidate for the United Australia Party has also been invited.
Find the forum on Monday, 29 April from 6pm to 7.45pm at Ballarat Central Uniting Church, Dana and Lydiard Streets, Ballarat. Light refreshments will be provided from 5.30pm. Everyone is welcome.
