DURHAM Lead’s Rach Jackson is a featured artist in popular Melbourne game brand, Journey of Something’s latest jigsaw collection.

Jackson’s abstract Day Tripper painting has been transferred to 1000-piece puzzles made from recycled paper and is now for sale online.

A former hairdresser, Jackson said the opportunity “came out of nowhere,” when the metro business contacted her in March.

“I was so surprised. At the time, I hardly had any work out there, as I was at the start of my art journey,” she said.

“It’s exciting. My business has grown really rapidly since April. I got picked up by a couple of shops in Melbourne and now I’m working full-time as an artist.

“The more exposure I get, the more work I get and can keep the ball rolling.”

First discovering painting as a teen, Jackson returned to the “freedom” of art practice almost a year ago after a long hiatus, working as a hairdresser and in retail.

“I’ve got kids, they grew up and I needed to fill in my time a bit, so I’ve come full-circle, really,” she said.

“I just love working with colour. I don’t have a plan when I start, I just pick colours and it all comes out intuitively.

“I’m living this dream I never thought I’d be able to live. I can be creative all day and not worry about pleasing people.”
