CITY of Ballarat staff are encouraging the community to download the Ballarat Waste App, which contains local waste and recycling information.
More than 4400 people have already downloaded the app, where residents can access kerbside collection schedules and set reminders, receive notifications of changes to bin collections, discover which bin an item should be placed in, and log a missed or damaged bin.
The app also contains information about the Ballarat Transfer Station’s opening hours and what can be taken to the transfer station for free.
“As we prepare to roll out FOGO [food organics garden organics] and glass kerbside collections, the waste app gives residents the confidence to know what goes where, when to put out which bin, and how to make a real difference for our environment,” mayor Cr Tracey Hargreaves said.
“The Ballarat Waste app is one way of delivering information right to our residents’ hands.”
FOGO and kerbside glass collection is scheduled to begin in November.
The app can be downloaded from the App Store or on Google Play.
