MEMBERS of the Ryder-Cheshire Ballarat Support Group heard a report at their last meeting from one of their members, Di Hadden, who recently returned from Timor-Leste.
Ms Hadden has visited and volunteered in Timor-Leste many times at the Ryder-Cheshire Health Facility, Klibur Domin, in Tibar, a small village near Dili.
Ms Haddon was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for Continuous Volunteer Service at Klibur Domin.
“Di has a great love and respect for the Timorese,” group president Dianne McGrath said.
“She gave us an up-to-date and comprehensive report on the humanitarian work undertaken at Klibur Domin.
“Klibur Domin means sharing the love in the local language, Tetum.
“The Ballarat Ryder-Cheshire Support Group had collected boxes of Panadol/paracetamol for Di to take to Klibur Domin which were gratefully received.
“The medicine will be used to assist with pain management.”
As part of Ryder-Cheshire Australia, the Ballarat support group works to relieve suffering without discrimination.
“At our monthly meetings we discuss and plan ways to support our mission,” Ms McGrath said.
“Fundraising activities include sponsorships for programs and residents at Raphael in India, and sponsorships for programs at Klibur Domin in Timor-Leste.
“Our fundraising includes seasonal activities and information events such as movie Sundays, trivia nights, Rotary Club monster raffles, and special anniversary events. Volunteers are always welcome to give their time to assist at Klibur Domin.
“It is a life-changing experience whilst doing good and ‘sharing the love’ for others.”
