Sessions for kids to stretch and de-stress
ASH Bedford, founder of Ash Bodhi Wellness, is running yoga classes specifically for children.
The classes are held on Wednesdays from 4pm to 4.45pm at Absolute Yoga and Pilates Ballarat for children aged five to 15.
Each class costs $22 with a maximum of 10 students per class.
Mr Bedford said the classes are a great way for children to practice mindfulness and de-stress.
“The mindfulness aspect is really powerful for kids,” he said.
In a world where many parents are busy, especially during the current cost-of-living crisis, Mr Bedford said these classes can provide an outlet for children.
“My observation for kids these days is that they are getting a lot of screen time and their parents are busy as they are both working full time,” he said.
“On weekends their parents are tired and don’t have a lot of energy.
“Everyone is doing their best and there is no judgment, but I just want to help people.”
Mr Bedford said his business has a focus on wellness through activities such as yoga and he seeks to share his knowledge with the local community.
“I have been working in the health and fitness industry for more than 15 years and I grew up here in Ballarat,” he said.
“I’m quite committed to working in this space and practicing as a teacher to share my wisdom and knowledge.”
Yoga and other relaxation techniques have become a critical part of Mr Bedford’s lifestyle.
“Teaching yoga is at the very core of what I do and my whole life has become a yoga practice and meditation practice,” said Mr Bedford.
“You get to a certain point where you live by it in everything you do.”
