AT Showbiz Cinemas this weekend, Ballarat’s dogs are the star of the show.

The whole family, even the four-legged members, are invited to the movies for a Pooches & Popcorn canine-centric morning of fun on Sunday, 6 March.

In partnership with PETstock, Showbiz will host an hour of outdoor pup-themed activities from 9am including stalls, a photo wall, raffles and gifts, before everyone heads inside for a premiere screening of road-trip comedy-drama DOG at 10am.

Pooches are welcome into the cinema to sit on their owners’ laps and enjoy the film starring Channing Tatum.

Showbiz Cinema Group director Chris Jones said the day will not only be a special treat for pets, but humans too, as DOG will not be seen anywhere else across Australia until its broader release on Thursday, 17 March.

“We are absolutely thrilled to again bring this unique cinema screening concept to Ballarat,” he said.

“Dog-friendly movie sessions have been conducted in Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra and other major cities with enormous success and support from the community.

“When DOG was slated for theatrical release, we felt this would be an ideal time to bring the concept back to Ballarat.”

PETstock’s head of marketing Dion Collard said he is proud of the collaboration between two local businesses.

“We love being involved in the Ballarat community, particularly when we can help bring pets and their owners together in such a fun way,” he said.
