Six sweet ways to show support
Pick up options for when you or someone you know needs a pick-me-up
If there’s one thing we’re all in need of right now, it’s a nice little pick-me-up to get us through the livelong days.
Nothing says “please-pick-me-up” quite like a sweet treat. Lucky for us, a number of Ballarat artisans are offering their homemade, decadent treats for pick-up and delivery so we can order some goodies for our self-gratification, or send some in the direction of our loved ones to show our support during this time.
Vegas & Rose Boxes
Whether you’re after something sweet or savoury, a box from Vegas & Rose is sure to bring a smile to your loved one’s dial. The boxes are created by the woman of many talents who is Penthea Marshall-Radcliffe. Her treats include delectable brownies, donuts, and cupcakes doused in ingredients such as gooey caramel, rich cocoa, Turkish delight, crunchy pecans, white chocolate and fresh berries. If you’re more of a savoury seeker, fret not. There’s also some incredible grazing boxes of cheese, charcuterie and crackers, sourcing local ingredients wherever possible.
Kittelty’s Cake Box
Owner of Kittelty’s Café and baker extraordinaire Sara Kittelty has started delivering her cake boxes all around the town, and everyone is very excited! Boasting cakes, slices and bikkies, these packages of homemade goodness are perfect for all ages and taste buds. With the option of choosing the Thinking of You box, the Trapped with Kids box or the Have Your Cake and Eat It box, there really is something for all the sweet tooths out there.
Thank You Box
This box is the perfect show of appreciation. Presented by Eat Drink West, the Thank You Boxes have been specially created to provide a gesture of gratitude for those labouring day and night in the health sector. Each box includes artisan sourdough and shortbread from 1816 Bakehouse; Ballarat Backyard Beekeeping Wild Bush Honey; Grounded Pleasures drinking chocolate; a bag of Karon Farm coffee; Springhill Farm chocolate and coconut sweet balls and a pack of Vegas & Rose Maple Pecan Granola.
The Little Cupcake
Sweet, dainty, picture-perfect and topped with delightful treats, The Little Cupcake’s creations are mouthfuls of pure pleasure. Choose from a range of designs and flavours, or ask for the Mix of the Day for a surprise. This family-owned local business also does same say delivery, so you can order online and have your box of deliciousness delivered straight to your door.
Grounded Pleasures
Purveyors of indulgent, warming, ethically-sourced hot chocolate, Grounded Pleasures has a range of products ready to be sent out for your idyllic night in. From original drinking chocolate to French mint, white to cinnamon spice, theirs are the perfect isolation treats. Either pick and choose your own flavours, or go for a pre-prepared bundle of three. Grounded Pleasures also has gift boxes available, each including a stunning hand-crafted mug from Ballarat ceramicist Ruby Pilven so you can savour your hot cocoa while admiring its vessel.
Le Peche Gourmand
If you’re up for a short leisurely drive to Creswick, French bakery Le Peche Gourmand remains open for take-away orders. Crumbly pastries, buttery croissants, chocolate-laden eclairs, and sweet and salty tarts – you should trust us when we say a visit to Le Peche will take all your worries away. Even if for a brief moment, it’ll all be worth it.
